Welcome back to all my lovely readers, and a big squeeze to all you newcomers.
In the name of research, I've been indulging in a delightful mix of watching, reading, and listening adventures over the past week.
Let's dive in!
📺 Teenage Dreams Revisited
After thinking back to my 11-year-old self last week, I decided to grow up a bit and watch a series about the struggles of being a teen.
The Summer I Turned Pretty gave me just that!
This series reminded me what it was like to fancy someone from afar, the complicated rules of being a teen and also that I am 42 and old enough to be the mother to the male cast members. FML.
I was surprised to find it wasn’t all teenage angst and there were some pretty good storylines. It’s a nice easy watch, which may even tug on your emotions a little, so for those of you who don’t enjoy my love of horror, this Amazon Prime series is one for you.
📖 Navigating the Menopause Maze
I read a great article in The Midst Newsletter this week from Sally Duffin - How Do I Know if I’m Perimenopausal
This article details each stage of this rickety hormonal journal, listing possible symptoms as well as ways that may help to naturally alleviate them.
It’s easy to read, informative and something that would be useful to anyone about to embark on the menopause motorway of madness!
👂🏻 Two Bodies, One Brain
I recently finished listening to Two Bodies with One Brain from one of my fave podcast shows, The True Crime Enthusiast Podcast.
When I listened to this episode I didn’t realise that it was part of a series and was hooked and devoured all 9 episodes of this series as quickly as I could.
I had briefly heard the story before but this series provides all the necessary details, leaving out some of those grim details that we just don’t need to know.
The series, as always is done in a respectful way to both the victims and their families and highlights the horror that some members of the human race can bring.
📱 The TikTok Trick That Tamed My Overthinking
As self confessed overthinker, I have tried many ways of distracting my mind when it goes off on one of its escapades and nothing has worked, my mind always wins.
But then!
I came across the Ultimate Mindset Trick on TikTok. I tried it there and then and thought, ooh interesting, but as I was of sound mind at the time so thought no more of it.
Then, when I was having a bout of overzealous thoughts a few days later, I remembered this little video and decided to give it a go and it only bloody worked.
This may very well be the solution to me avoiding that padded cell.
💰 The Ultimate Money-Making Hack!
I have to say Top Cashback is one of my absolute fave ways of earning extra money.
Since joining, I have earned a whopping £447 and I am just annoyed that I didn’t know about it sooner because it’s so bloody easy!
You can either install it to your browser or download the app and then all you need to do is shop.
You will receive either a percentage or a set amount for any eligible purchase, which then goes into your Top Cashback account and once those funds have cleared, you can either use them to get gift cards from a huge choice of outlets or just have the funds transferred into your bank account, which is what I usually do.
You are literally earning whilst you spend!
🤔 Back to Routine
Now that the summer hols are over and I have no more time away planned for the next couple of months, I thought it was time to get back into some sort of routine.
So this week I started with my morning routine. I have reintroduced my morning walks, which seemed to have fallen by the wayside and also I’ve started using 750 words - again to empty my mind of clutter before the day begins.
What are your morning routine staples?
