Happy Wednesday!
We have officially entered one of my favourite times of the year: the weather is cooling down, the evenings are getting cosier, and the spooky season is right around the corner, which means horror films galore!
But enough chit-chat about the weather and scary movies. Let’s brighten the midweek with some new things I’ve found for you.
📺 Binge-Worthy Comedy
The husband and I were looking for an easy watch and stumbled across Jury Duty. We binged the entire series in an afternoon and laughed our heads off. Ronald Gladden, who has been selected to participate in a documentary about jury service, doesn’t know that he is the only “real” thing in the programme. Everyone else is an actor, and the entire thing is staged.
They pull so many stunts, and we get to see his reaction. I honestly can’t see how anyone would not enjoy watching this and come away feeling a little better about the world. I also wonder if Ronald is possibly the nicest person ever. It’s free to watch on FreeVee.
📖 Understanding the Burden of Emotional Labour
If you read my regular Sunday posts, you will know I have become increasingly overwhelmed lately. It’s not just the tasks I physically have to do but the mental tasks that seem to take up every waking moment. So, when I came across this article about emotional labour, I just had to share it.
It’s something that my friends and I talk about quite often, and I found this particular take on it quite refreshing.
👂🏻 What Really Makes Us Happy? Lessons from The Happiness Lab
I finally got myself out for a morning walk this week, which means more motivational podcasts.
I listened to the first full episode of The Happiness Lab podcast, titled “You Can Change.” There were some great insights into what truly makes us happy, and it’s not what you might think.
📱 The Lonely Girls Club
Life is busy, and people move away, have families, and change jobs. Sometimes, we don’t have time to make new friends.
I saw this post on TikTok and thought, what a bloody good idea!
💰 Get Personal with Your Finances: Start a Money Diary
Not a code this week, but as I have learned, you need to look closer to home before looking elsewhere to solve your problems, which goes for your finances too.
I read this article about starting a money diary in a weekly email from Career Contessa, and it makes so much sense. We are so good at being organised in other areas of our lives. Why aren’t we doing the same with our finances?
🤔 Menopause Awareness Month: What Everyone Needs to Know
October is Menopause Awareness Month, and I am finding myself having conversations daily with people, not just women, about what this entails, so I have decided to have this last section dedicated to all things menopause.
What better way to start than with an article from Balance, the fabulous app for all things Menopause, listing 10 Surprising Menopause Symptoms
If you or a female around you has not been themselves or displaying these symptoms, perimenopause or menopause is definitely something to consider.
Some of the more recent information I have seen is that Perimenopause can begin as early as our mid-thirties. You can still have a regular cycle and be in PeriMenopause. Menopause, however, is just one day, the day you have not had a period for a year.
