Hi lovelies!
You may have noticed I have changed the name of this midweek post.
In all honesty, I think I must have been having a menopausal moment because the previous name gave me the complete ick! So now I am back with a new and improved title, which I am (fairly) confident will not make me itch in a couple of weeks’ time.
I've been joyfully diving into a whirlwind of watching, reading, and listening adventures this past week.
Ready to take the plunge with me?
📺 Love Island Meets Parenthood
We have been talking about Love Island for midlife people for ages now so I was excited to switch on ITV1 to watch My Mum Your Dad. A slightly different premise to Love Island, single parents are brought to a beautiful country house by one of their young adult children in order to find love.
It’s quite refreshing to watch these grown-ups go in, with all the baggage that comes at this stage in life. There are no influencers or overbearing, overconfident people just real, genuine humans with the same battle scars as the rest of us.
The twist? Their children will be watching everything that goes on - well I hope not everything!! I am only one episode in and I am hooked.
Oh and be warned you may need a few tissues for that first episode 😢
📖 Discovering a Haven: Reddit's Supportive Menopause Communities
I am in the midst of putting together some useful resources on Hormones, perimenopause & Menopause but in the meantime, I will share some of my favourite ones here.
Last week, in a desperate bid for advice I went to Reddit. They have both a Perimenopause and menopause thread and let me tell you, these ladies are amazing!
They listened, empathised, they gave sound advice and even got angry on my behalf, it was just like chatting with a group of good friends.
There is so much helpful information on there I would highly recommend taking a look.
You can also find useful posts in my Instagram highlights.
👂🏻 Gabby Logan's Menopause Medley: A Must-Listen Episode
I listened to this fabulous episode of The Midlife podcast hosted by Gabby Logan. They combined interviews from various episodes where women such as Davina McCall, Penny Lancaster and Lorraine Kelly are talking about their experiences with menopause.
My personal favourite was MP Carolyn Harris who made me laugh out loud!
Have a listen!
📱 Adding a Spark to Self-Reflection
I love a bit of self-reflection and it’s taken me a while to determine what works for me. I’ve been using the same planner and prompts all year and things have been going well, but when I saw this post on Instagram for a weekly check-in, I just had to add it to my routine.
Why not give it a go yourself?
💰 An Offer Too Delicious to Pass Up!
If you’ve been here for a while, you will know I am a huge fan of Gousto and have been getting my weekly meals from them for the last 4 years.
So when they sent me this offer to share this week, I thought it would be rude not to.
You will get a whopping 65% off of your first box and then 20% off of boxes for the next two months.
The husband and I have tried other boxes and we did actually test out whether it is cheaper to just buy the ingredients ourselves and it actually doesn’t work out any cheaper and we soon came back to Gousto.
The ingredients are fantastic quality with the meat being much better than what’s on offer in the supermarket and they are already measured out for you, so no faffing around in the kitchen.
With over 75 recipes to choose from, with a huge range of cuisines, dietary requirements and even 10-minute meals, which I always get one of each week.
You can say goodbye to the emotional labour of thinking of new ideas for dinner and actually enjoy cooking!
Be quick though, this offer is for a limited time only
🤔 September Recharge
I know it’s now mid-September, but I couldn’t resist adding this Instagram post from Roxie Nafousi on 5 ways to reset before September.
It was a great reminder to update my vision board to align with the new goals I have implemented throughout the year.
If you enjoyed reading this post, why not share it with your friends?
I’d love to know your thoughts on The Midweek Medley post.
